Friday, October 13, 2017 (Day 3)

FRENCH 8B

The students wrote a quiz on the verb ÊTRE,  Then three students were in the Chaise Chaud.  Next the students started to put their dictionary words into sentences, in a Pic Collage poster on the iPads.  We'll finish this up next day.

ELA 9B

The students read for ten minutes.  We had 2 minutes of the video "Storming Juno" to finish up and then the students had time to complete their video analysis.
Next we looked at a variety of poems about war written in a variety of styles.  Some poems followed a rhyme scheme (ABAB or ABCB) but many did not.  Instead some used a repeated phrase at the start or end of each stanza. Some combined repetition and a rhyme scheme.  Others had no rhymes at all.  One poem was a paragraph, which was then cut into pieces to create a poem. For example the following sentence:
He is only aware of the movement of his mother's hand inside her purse looking for her handkerchief.
was rewritten to look like this:
He is only aware of
the movement of his
mother's hand inside
her purse looking

for her handkerchief.

Students will spend the next few classes working on a 25-32 line poem for the Legion's annual contest.

FRENCH 7B

Three students were in the Chaise Chaud.  Then we did a quick review of our pronouns and had a pop quiz.  Next we started to learn the conjugation of the verb AVOIR (to have).

J'ai (I have)                               Nous avons (We have)
Tu as (You (s) have)                 Vous avez (You (pl) have)
Il a (He has)                              Ils ont (They (m) have)
Elle a (She has)                         Elles ont (They (f) have)
On a (One has)

We worked through the start of a worksheet on avoir, which we'll finish next class.
