CAREERS 8B

The class added items to the many areas that are part of a person's career.  A career is more than a job but rather the sum and total of a person's life events.  The origin of the word career comes from the Latin word carrus, meaning cart. Over time, the word also came to mean “the track the cart follows.”  So your career is both the cart carrying the events of your life and the track you’re following. William Bridges said, “Think of your career as a journey that includes all the events in your life.”
We also discussed how many events in your career start from an early age.  The students listed 5 things they like, 5 things they do well, and 5 things that are important to them.  They began to think of how these items might affect their futures.  They finished by listing up to 5 credentials, experiences and accomplishments that they already have and will make them better qualified to do a job in the future.

ELA 9A

The students had their last Driver's Ed class on Tuesday.  Today they read for ten minutes.  We corrected chapter 3 questions about "The Outsiders."  Then they started to write a paragraph on one of the characters from "The Outsiders." Rough drafts are due for tomorrow's class.

Write a news article based on the story.
Remember most articles are short, factual reports about people and events.
The first line is called the lead and includes: who, where, when, and what.
Then the next paragraphs explain the how and why.
As your article continues Include three quotes from other characters involved in the story (the drunk, Angela, Freddy, the old lady, Laura, the cop) to bring the article to life for your readers.
Remember quotes should be written with quotation marks: Freddy Brown stated, "I was walking home with my girlfriend Angela when we entered the alley off 33rd Ave."
Make sure to write a conclusion for your article.
Make sure to include a catchy headline.
You will have to think of names or last names for the characters. We know the story is set in New York City. You decide what street.

If you need it for reference the story can be found at:on-the-sidewalk-bleeding.pdf

FRENCH 7B

Three students were in our first Chaise Chaud.  Then we reviewed être for our quiz next class (Tuesday, November 6th.)
