ALT ELA
Today we finished up "The Landlady" by looking at the story plot. It is different than most stories because it ends at the rising action. The climax, falling actions, and resolution are all inferred but never really told in the story. We assume young Billy realizes he has been poisoned and that the dies and the landlady stuffs him but we aren't actually told that in the story. The video showed more of the story. We also did the Making it Personal.
Then we prepared for the next story "The Monkey's Paw." We did the pre-reading discussion and then we did the vocabulary study before reading the story. Then we answered the questions about the story and discussed the literary terms used in the story.
ELA 7C
We corrected the Fill-Ins and Antonyms from yesterday. We then watched the video below, discussed punctuation and did several examples together. The students completed the sections on Punctuation and Summarizing (putting paragraph two into one sentence of 15 words or less.) Most students started on their final paragraph on one of the three topics listed in their booklets. Students also had time to read and some had time for Typing Tutor.
