Monday, November 18, 2019 (Day 3)

ELA 9A & 9B

The students read for ten minutes and tallied up their reading from last week and the weekend.  They are expected to read 140 minutes each week and given ten minutes a day in class to help with this total.  Next we finished the introduction to our novel study "The Outsiders."
ELA 9B - Read chapter one of the novel to halfway down page 15.
ELA 9A - Read chapter one of the novel to halfway down page 17.

SENIOR FRENCH

The students received their exams back.  Re-assessments will be held on Wednesday at noon. Then we reviewed reflexive verbs and did and activity identifying when a reflexive pronoun is used and when it is not.
Example:  Je lave mon chien.  (I wash my dog.  Not reflexive)
                  Je me lave.  (I wash myselfReflexive)

We also looked at how time is written in French:
Quelle heure est-il?  What time is it?
The French use military time - 24 hour clock.
7:00 o'clock am  --> 7h00
7:00 o'clock pm --> 19h00

Il est ____number_____ heure(s).  It is _____ o'clock.

12 noon - Il est  midi. (12h00)
12 midnight - Il est minuit.  (0h00)

3:15 pm --> 15h15
Il est quinze heures et quart.

6:45 am --> 6h45
Il est sept heures moins le quart.

5:30 pm --> 17h30
Il est dix-sept heures et demie.

9:10 am --> 9h10
Il est neuf heures dix.

9:50 am  --> 9h50
Il est dix heures moins dix.

7:00 am --> 7h00 (in the morning)
Il est sept heures du matin. 

7:00 pm --> 19h00 (in the evening)
Il est sept heures du soir.

2:00 pm  --> 14h00 (in the afternoon)
Il est deux heures de l'après-midi.
